Recommended Exercises for Fat Loss

Question: My mother is overweight. Should we begin with cardio exercises and then move onto strength training?

Answer:

No, cardio, or as I prefer to call it, steady state exercise is inferior to strength training in terms of overall health benefits. Strength training will improve cardiovascular fitness just as much as traditional cardio, and will provide a ton of other benefits that help with fat loss and overall health. Fat loss is almost entirely meditated by diet however, and so the diet should be the first thing to address.
